Stud after Red Sox Stud Shut Down by Yankee Rookie

Here is the one down side of sending your entire every day lineup out in a meaningless Spring Training game against your biggest rival and their top pitching prospect: said prospect could very well own your biggest hitters and wish list of future Hall of Famers.

Manny Banuelos, the twenty year old Left Hander for the Yankees brought a 93 MPH fastball and a changeup that looked just like the one retired Andy Pettite used to throw to work around the Red Sox for 2 and 2/3 of an inning today. He walked three, struck out two and was virtually impossible for the Sox to square up against in Fort Myers.

Playing down the importance of facing Boston, Joe Girardi left Jeter, Arod, Tex, Cano and Posada back in Tampa to hit in the batting cage and sent a squad mostly full of guys still trying to make the team down to Fort Myers for this game.

For the Red Sox their lineup of regulars performed like this against Banuelos:

Jacoby Ellsbury: 0-1, 1 BB, 3 men Left on Base
Dustin Pedroia: 0-2, 4 men Left on Base.
Carl Crawford: 0-2, 1 Strikeout, 1 man Left on Base
Kevin Youklilis: 0-1, 1 BB, 1 SO
Adrian Gonzalez: 0-2, 2 men Left on Base
David Ortiz: 1-2
Mike Cameron: 1-2
Marco Scutaro: 0-0, 1 BB

As of this writing the game is heading into the top of the 5th, both starters have been pulled and the Yanks are up 1-0
